The review panel, to be known as Neha, will examine the right to safe, adequate and affordable housing for women, Two Spirit, Trans, and gender-diverse people, and the government’s duty to uphold this right.
Neha is a Kanien’kéha-Mohawk word meaning “our ways”. It describes a way of life that is open, peaceful, supportive and healing.” Real People Collaboration has had the honour to bring together women and gender-diverse led and serving organizations to provide lived expert tetamony for the neha review panels, local place based dialogues and oral hearings. Our work comprised of facilitating participation, sourcing out peer supports and knowledge keepers, and providing the fiscal trustee for honouraria to participants. The Neha’s review panel will comprise recomendations for the Federal Housing Minister to make concrete and actionable reponses to the review.
